PLANT DESCRIPTION & MATURE SIZE

Texas Pink Pomegranate Tree, scientifically known as Punica granatum ‘Texas Pink’, is a heat-loving fruit tree known for its bright coral-pink flowers and sweet, flavorful pomegranates. This hardy variety performs exceptionally well in warm climates and produces attractive glossy foliage along with ornamental blooms before developing fruit. With its drought tolerance and manageable size, the Texas Pink Pomegranate Tree is a popular choice for home orchards and backyard gardens in southern regions.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Moderate growth rate. Typically grows 1–2 feet per year and reach 10–15 feet tall and 8–12 feet wide at maturity.

WATERING & SUNLIGHT

Water deeply once or twice per week during the first growing season to establish the root system. Once established, pomegranate trees are fairly drought tolerant, though they benefit from occasional deep watering during extended dry periods, especially during fruit development. Watering needs vary depending on soil type, rainfall, temperature, and local climate conditions.

Texas Pink Pomegranate Trees grow best in full sun, which promotes strong flowering and fruit production.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Prune in late winter or early spring while the tree is dormant to remove dead or crowded branches and shape the tree. Pomegranates can be grown as either a multi-trunk shrub or trained into a small tree form.

FERTILIZING:
Apply a balanced fruit tree fertilizer in early spring to support healthy growth and fruit development. Avoid excessive fertilization, which may reduce fruit production. Avoid fertilizing for the first 2–3 months after delivery to allow the plant to adjust and establish.

WINTER PROTECTION:
Within its recommended growing zones, this tree generally requires little winter protection. In cooler areas of Zone 7, applying mulch around the base of the tree can help protect the roots from cold temperatures.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Select a planting location with full sun and well-draining soil. Dig a hole two to three times wider than the root ball and about the same depth as the nursery container so the tree sits at the same level it was growing previously. Place the tree in the hole, backfill with soil, and gently firm the soil to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting. Apply 2–3 inches of mulch around the base of the tree to help retain soil moisture and regulate soil temperature, keeping mulch a few inches away from the trunk.

USDA GROW ZONE:

Zones 7-10

Texas Pink Pomegranate Trees grow best in USDA Zones 7–10 and thrive in warm climates with long summers. They are well suited to hot, dry regions and perform particularly well in southern states. This fruit tree prefers full sun and well-draining soil and can tolerate drought once established. In cooler climates within its range, winter protection may help young trees survive occasional cold snaps.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
