  • Botanical name: Juniperus scopulorum 'Blue Arrow'
  • Evergreen
  • Grown in the USA

SUNLIGHT:
Prefers full sun

WATER:
Water regularly, keeping the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Approximately every 1-2 weeks. Watering frequency may vary depending on climate and the plant’s establishment phase.

IDEAL CLIMATE:
Hardy in USDA Zones 4-9; thrives in temperate climates with well-draining soil

Note: It's natural for the inner or lower foliage of the Blue Arrow Juniper to turn brown and shed over time as the plant matures. This is part of its natural aging process and helps maintain the plant's overall health and appearance.

Our Jumbo Blue Arrow Juniper are grown in 10-gallon nursery pots and are more mature than regular sizes, with a more developed rootball and fuller overall structure. Compared to standard options, Jumbo sizes offer a larger container, stronger root system, and greater maturity, giving the tree a more established presence at planting time.

Regular sizes are grown in 5-gallon nursery pots. These trees are healthy and well-rooted but are less mature than Jumbo sizes and will take more time to fill in.

The difference between regular and Jumbo sizes is in container size, rootball development, fullness, and overall maturity. Jumbo Blue Arrow Juniper are a great option if you’re looking for a more established tree to achieve privacy sooner.

Shipping:
Jumbo Blue Arrow Juniper are shipped burlapped, with the rootball carefully wrapped and secured with a zip tie to protect the roots and keep the tree stable during transit.

Regular sizes are shipped in their nursery pots, with the rootball secured in a protective plastic liner and zip tie to keep soil contained and the box clean during shipping.

Moderate to fast growth rate, reaches a mature height of 12-15 feet tall and a width of 2-3 feet wide.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Blue Arrow Juniper typically requires minimal pruning due to its natural columnar form. If desired, lightly prune in early spring to maintain its shape.

FERTILIZING:
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer once a year in spring to support healthy growth.

WINTER PROTECTION:
Before the ground freezes, ensure the plant is well-watered to help prevent winter desiccation.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Plant the Blue Arrow Juniper in well-drained soil with full sun exposure for optimal growth. In containers, ensure the pot has sufficient drainage holes to prevent waterlogged roots. When planting in the ground, dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the juniper, and backfill with soil, gently firming it around the base. Water thoroughly after planting to help the plant establish its roots. For container planting, use a high-quality potting mix and avoid overwatering.

USDA GROW ZONE:

Zones 4-9

The Blue Arrow Juniper is hardy in USDA zones 4 to 9, making it suitable for a wide range of climates. Its exceptional adaptability allows it to withstand both cold winters and warmer summers.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
