PLANT DESCRIPTION & MATURE SIZE

The Agave Blue Flame, a stunning succulent known for its graceful, arching foliage that resembles a blue flame, brings an exotic and dramatic flair to gardens and landscapes. This hybrid Agave, a cross between Agave shawii and Agave attenuata, is celebrated for its soft, blue-green leaves that gently curve back, giving the appearance of a flickering flame. It's an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a drought-tolerant and low-maintenance plant that adds a sculptural and tropical feel to their outdoor area.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Moderate growth rate; reaches a mature height of 4-5 feet and width of 5-6 feet.

WATERING & SUNLIGHT

Agave Blue Flame requires minimal watering and enjoys plenty of sunlight. It's ideal for sunny, dry locations, and its watering needs are modest, especially once established. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Thrives in full sun but can also do well in partial shade, especially in hot climates.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Agave Blue Flame rarely needs pruning. Remove dead or damaged leaves near the base to maintain a tidy appearance.

FERTILIZING:
Fertilization is minimal; apply a small amount of balanced fertilizer in spring to support healthy growth. Avoid fertilizing for the first 2–3 months after delivery to allow the plant to adjust and establish.

WINTER PROTECTION:
While drought- and heat-tolerant, protect Agave Blue Flame from frost in colder climates by covering it or moving potted plants indoors during freezing temperatures.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-draining soil. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and twice as wide. Plant the Agave, backfill with soil, and water moderately. If planting in a container, ensure adequate drainage and space for growth.

USDA GROW ZONE:

Zones 9-11

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
