PLANT DESCRIPTION & MATURE SIZE

The Blue Point Juniper is a striking evergreen known for its rich blue-green foliage and naturally dense, pyramidal form. This low-maintenance conifer adds year-round structure, privacy, and color to landscapes while requiring minimal pruning. Drought tolerant and adaptable, Blue Point Juniper is a popular choice for privacy screens, entryway accents, and foundation plantings.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Moderate growth rate; mature height of 10 to 12 feet and width of 6 to 8 feet.

WATERING & SUNLIGHT

Water deeply once per week during the first growing season. After establishment, water every 2–3 weeks depending on rainfall and temperature. Blue Point Juniper is drought tolerant once mature but should not be planted in consistently soggy soil. Plant Blue Point Juniper in full sun for the best color and dense growth. Too much shade may cause thinning and duller foliage.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Blue Point Juniper generally does not require pruning unless shaping is desired. If needed, prune in late winter before new spring growth begins.

FERTILIZING:
Apply a general-purpose, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to support healthy growth.

WINTER PROTECTION:
Although winter-hardy, protect Blue Point Juniper from harsh winter winds, especially in colder zones, to prevent desiccation.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and no deeper than the soil line. Position the plant so the top of the root ball sits level with the surrounding soil, loosen any compacted roots, and backfill with native soil. Water thoroughly and apply mulch around the base, keeping mulch away from direct contact with the trunk. Continue deep watering during the first growing season to establish a strong root system.

USDA GROW ZONE:

Zones 4-9

Blue Point Juniper performs well across a wide range of climates, from colder northern regions to warm southern zones. It tolerates heat, drought, and urban conditions once established. This juniper prefers well-draining soil and good airflow and adapts to sandy, loamy, or moderately clay soils with improved drainage. In extremely humid climates, proper spacing helps maintain plant health.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
