October Glory Maple Tree

An October Glory Maple typically grows 40–50 feet tall and 30–40 feet wide at maturity, forming a rounded canopy ideal for shade.

The October Glory Maple tree has a fast growth rate, averaging 1.5–3 feet of new growth per year once established.

Plant the October Glory Maple in full sun to partial shade with room for the canopy to spread. Choose a spot with well-draining soil and enough open space away from buildings and overhead lines.

In spring and summer, the October Glory Maple has lush, glossy green leaves and a full rounded canopy. In fall, those leaves turn vivid shades of red to orange-red. During winter, the tree goes completely dormant and drops its leaves, leaving a sculptural branching structure until new growth returns in spring.

It adapts well to heat and humidity and can tolerate short dry spells once established. However, consistent watering during hot summers helps the tree maintain its health and fall color.

This maple is adaptable to many soils including clay, loam, and sandy ground. It grows best in slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils but can thrive in typical residential landscapes.

Plant this tree at least 20 feet away from your home, fences, garages, or patios to allow proper canopy spread and prevent root competition.

Newly planted trees should be watered deeply once or twice per week during the first year, depending on weather, climate, and rainfall. Mature trees still appreciate regular moisture, especially during long dry periods.

Most trees reach a substantial size within 10–15 years, with continued growth as they mature. With proper care, this maple can live and perform beautifully for decades.

Space trees 30–40 feet apart to give each tree enough room for full crown development and strong airflow, which supports healthy growth and vibrant fall color.

At Simply Trees, we're committed to your satisfaction. If your plants arrive considerably damaged or sustained damage beyond the point of recovery, please contact us within five days at sales@simplytrees.com with clear photos of the entire plant in question for assistance. Our 1 year guarantee covers issues after planting, subject to our terms. We can't cover plants in the wrong climate or with inadequate care, but we're here to help in other situations. All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.
