PLANT DESCRIPTION & MATURE SIZE

New Gold Lantana, botanically known as Lantana × ‘New Gold’, is a compact, spreading flowering plant prized for its bright golden-yellow blooms and exceptional heat tolerance. This low-growing perennial is commonly used as ground cover, edging, or in containers, delivering nonstop color throughout the warm season. With excellent drought tolerance once established, New Gold Lantana is a reliable, low-maintenance choice for sunny landscapes.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Moderate to fast growth rate; typically grows 12–18 inches tall and spreads 3–5 feet wide.

WATERING & SUNLIGHT

Water regularly during establishment; once established, water every 10–14 days, allowing soil to dry between waterings. Overwatering can reduce flowering and lead to excess foliage. New Gold Lantana requires full sun to maintain compact growth and continuous flowering. At least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight per day is ideal.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Light trimming throughout the growing season helps maintain shape and encourages fresh blooms. In late winter or early spring, cut back to refresh growth, especially in perennial-growing zones.

FERTILIZING:
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in spring. Avoid excessive fertilization, as too much nitrogen can reduce flowering.

WINTER PROTECTION:
In colder areas, New Gold Lantana may die back after frost. Mulching can help protect roots, and plants typically regrow in spring in warmer zones.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and plant at the same depth it was growing in the container. Backfill with well-draining soil, water thoroughly after planting, and space plants to allow for spreading. Apply mulch lightly to retain moisture while keeping it away from the base of the plant.

USDA GROW ZONE:

Zones 8-11

New Gold Lantana thrives in warm climates with hot summers and mild winters. It performs best in full sun with well-draining soil and is commonly grown as a perennial in southern regions. In cooler zones, it may die back in winter and return in spring. Its toughness makes it well suited for coastal, urban, and drought-prone landscapes.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
