PLANT DESCRIPTION & MATURE SIZE

Miami Pink Bougainvillea Shrub, botanically known as Bougainvillea ‘Miami Pink’, is a fast-growing flowering shrub prized for its soft magenta-pink bracts and long blooming season. This sun-loving shrub delivers vibrant color in warm climates and thrives with minimal water once established. Its spreading growth habit and excellent heat tolerance make it a popular choice for hedges, accents, and tropical-style landscapes.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Fast growth rate; typically reaches 6–10 feet tall and wide when maintained as a shrub.

WATERING & SUNLIGHT

Water deeply once every 7–10 days during establishment; once established, water every 10–14 days, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Slightly drier conditions encourage more consistent flowering, while excess water can limit blooms. Miami Pink Bougainvillea Shrub requires full sun to produce abundant blooms and maintain strong growth. At least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight per day is ideal.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Prune as needed to maintain shape and size, ideally after a major bloom cycle. Light, regular pruning encourages fuller growth. Wear gloves, as branches have thorns.

FERTILIZING:
Fertilize during the growing season with a balanced or bloom-focused fertilizer. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers, which promote leafy growth instead of flowers.

WINTER PROTECTION:
This shrub is not frost tolerant. In areas that experience freezing temperatures, protect with frost cloth or grow in containers that can be moved to a protected location.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and plant at the same depth as it was growing in the container. Use well-draining soil and avoid over-amending, as bougainvillea prefers slightly lean soil. Water thoroughly after planting and apply mulch lightly, keeping it away from the base of the plant.

USDA GROW ZONE:

Zones 9-11

The Miami Pink Bougainvillea Shrub performs best in hot, sunny climates with mild winters and minimal frost exposure. It thrives in regions with long growing seasons and excellent drainage. This shrub is especially well suited for southern, coastal, and desert landscapes where heat and sun are consistent. In cooler regions, it can be grown in containers and protected during winter.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
