  • Botanical name: Juniperus conferta 'Blue Pacific'
  • Evergreen

WATER:
Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Approximately every 1-2 weeks. Watering frequency may vary depending on climate and the plant’s establishment phase.

IDEAL CLIMATE:
Hardy in USDA Zones 5-9; thrives in temperate climates with well-draining soil

PLANT DESCRIPTION & MATURE SIZE

The Blue Pacific Shore Juniper, scientifically known as Juniperus rigida var. conferta 'Blue Pacific', is a captivating ground cover that adds a serene bluish-green hue to gardens and landscapes. Renowned for its dense, needle-like foliage, this juniper creates a low carpet of evergreen beauty that offers year-round interest. Gardeners who seek a hardy and attractive ground cover will find the Blue Pacific Shore Juniper to be an impeccable choice, bringing an element of coastal charm to their outdoor space.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Moderate growth rate; typically achieves a height of 1-2 feet and a width of 5-6 feet.

WATERING & SUNLIGHT

To establish the Blue Pacific Shore Juniper, ensure consistent watering, especially during dry spells. Once established, it exhibits drought-resistant qualities. Its preference for full sun to partial shade allows flexibility in landscaping designs.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Periodically trim Blue Pacific Shore Juniper to maintain shape and density, and remove any dead or unhealthy branches to encourage vigorous growth.

FERTILIZING:
Apply a general-purpose, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to support healthy growth.

WINTER PROTECTION:
Blue Pacific Shore Juniper is generally winter-hardy, but in extreme cold, a light layer of mulch around the base can provide extra insulation.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Choose a location with well-draining soil that receives ample sunlight. Dig a hole twice as wide as the juniper's root ball and equally deep. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the ground surface. Backfill with soil, gently pressing down to eliminate air pockets. Water deeply after planting and apply a layer of mulch around the base to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch away from direct contact with the plant's stems.

USDA GROW ZONE:

Zones 6-9

The Blue Pacific Shore Juniper is remarkably adaptable, flourishing in the moderate climates of its USDA zones. It's particularly suited to seaside gardens due to its salt tolerance. This juniper's drought-resistant nature combined with its ability to thrive in a variety of soil types makes it a versatile and reliable addition to landscapes.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
