Note: Muskogee Crape Myrtle benefits from occasional pruning to promote a more uniform shape and to enhance blooming.

The Muskogee Crape Myrtle, scientifically known as Lagerstroemia indica 'Muskogee', is a highly ornamental tree celebrated for its stunning lavender-pink blooms and attractive, peeling bark. This variety stands out with its long flowering period from late spring to early fall, making it a favorite for adding lasting color to gardens. The Muskogee Crape Myrtle is known for its tall, elegant stature and mildew resistance, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of landscape settings. Its ability to thrive in hot climates and adapt to various soil types makes it a versatile and beautiful addition to urban landscapes, parks, and residential gardens.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Fast growth rate; reaches a mature height of 20 to 30 feet and width of 15 to 20 feet.

The Muskogee Crape Myrtle requires regular watering, particularly in the heat of summer and during dry periods, to maintain health and encourage flowering. It flourishes in full sun, making it ideal for open, sunny landscapes.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

Select a location with well-draining soil and full sun exposure. Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball. Place the tree in the hole, fill with soil, and water thoroughly. Ensure the tree is not planted deeper than its original depth in the container. Water regularly, especially during the establishment period and in times of drought.

PLANT CARE

PRUNING:
Prune Muskogee Crape Myrtle in late winter or early spring if desired. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches to maintain an open, balanced canopy.

FERTILIZING:
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring, following manufacturer instructions. Avoid fertilizing for the first 2–3 months after delivery to allow the plant to adjust and establish.

WINTER PROTECTION:
In zones 7–10, mulch around the base to protect roots from freezing. For severe winter weather, cover the tree with burlap or a frost cloth.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
