PLANT DESCRIPTION & MATURE SIZE

Yucca Spanish Dagger, scientifically known as Yucca aloifolia, is a bold and dramatic plant that brings architectural flair to any garden. Featuring sharp, sword-like leaves and striking white flower spikes, this robust yucca is perfect for creating a dramatic focal point in desert and low-water landscapes. Its hardy nature and minimal care requirements make it an ideal choice for gardeners seeking a standout, low-maintenance plant.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Slow-growing; typically reaches 8-15 feet in height and 3-6 feet in width under optimal conditions.

WATERING & SUNLIGHT

Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Once established, it is highly drought-tolerant and requires minimal additional watering. Requires full sun exposure to thrive, ideally receiving at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth and flowering.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Remove dead or damaged leaves and spent flower stalks from Yucca Spanish Dagger to maintain a tidy appearance.

FERTILIZING:
Typically does not require regular fertilization. If desired, apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring.

WINTER PROTECTION:
Hardy within its growing zones, but in colder climates or during unusually harsh winters, mulch around the base can help protect the plant.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Choose a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill with soil, water thoroughly, and apply mulch around the base to help retain moisture. Space plants 3-4 feet apart to accommodate their mature width.

It prefers full sun and well-drained soil, making it ideal for desert and xeriscaping gardens. This hardy plant offers year-round interest with its striking foliage and dramatic flower spikes.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
