Planting instructions
Choose a location in full sun to partial sun with well-draining soil. Dig a hole about twice as wide as the root ball and the same depth as the container. Set the plant at the same level it was growing, backfill, and water thoroughly. Space plants about 2–3 feet apart to allow room to spread.
Watering & sunlight
Water newly planted catmint when the top 1–2 inches of soil begin to dry, typically once or twice per week during the first growing season and more often during hot, dry, or windy weather. Water deeply at the base so moisture reaches the whole root ball. Once established, Walker's Low is drought tolerant and usually needs water only during extended dry spells. Avoid soggy soil. There is no fixed watering schedule, so always check the soil first and adjust based on climate, rainfall, temperature, sunlight, soil type, and drainage.

Walker's Low Catmint grows in full sun to partial sun. Full sun produces the most flowers and the tidiest habit; in very hot climates, a little afternoon shade is fine.
Care guide

PRUNING:
After the first big flush of flowers fades, shear the plant back by about one-third to one-half to encourage fresh foliage and another round of blooms. Cut old stems to the ground in late fall or early spring.

FERTILIZING:
Usually unnecessary; catmint prefers lean soil. If growth is weak, apply a light slow-release fertilizer in spring. Avoid fertilizing for the first 2–3 months after delivery to allow the plant to adjust and establish.

WINTER PROTECTION:
Very cold hardy and typically needs no special winter protection within Zones 3–8.

Answered by Simply Trees plant experts
How big does Walker's Low Catmint get?
Walker's Low Catmint typically reaches 2–3 feet tall and 2–3 feet wide at maturity, so give it room to spread.
How fast does Walker's Low Catmint grow?
It has a fast growth rate, quickly filling out into a full mound of aromatic foliage and lavender-blue flowers.
Where is the best place to plant Walker's Low Catmint?
Plant it in full sun to partial sun with well-draining, average to lean soil. Full sun produces the most flowers. It's an easy choice for borders, edging, rock gardens, pollinator gardens, and pairing with roses.
How far apart should I plant Walker's Low Catmint?
Space plants about 2–3 feet apart to allow room for each plant to spread to its full size.
How do I keep Walker's Low Catmint blooming?
After the first flush of flowers fades, shear the plant back by about one-third to one-half. It will push fresh growth and rebloom.
Is Walker's Low Catmint deer and rabbit resistant?
Yes. Deer and rabbits tend to leave its aromatic foliage alone, making it a reliable choice for gardens with wildlife pressure.
Why is it called Walker's Low if it grows 2–3 feet tall?
The name comes from the garden where it was found, not its height. Walker's Low isn't especially short and commonly reaches 2–3 feet tall and wide.
Does Walker's Low Catmint attract pollinators?
Yes. Bees and butterflies love its long-lasting lavender-blue flowers, which bloom from late spring through summer with repeat bloom after shearing.
Is Walker's Low Catmint drought tolerant?
Yes. Once established, it's drought tolerant and usually needs water only during extended dry spells. Avoid heavy, wet soil and too much fertilizer, which can make it floppy or short-lived.
Will cats be attracted to Walker's Low Catmint?
They may be. Catmint is a relative of catnip, and some cats are drawn to its aromatic foliage.
