  • Evergreen in warm climates
  • Grown in the USA

Note: Bougainvillea blooms best when planted in full sun and slightly drier conditions. Excess watering or excessive fertilizer may reduce blooming.

PLANT DESCRIPTION & MATURE SIZE

Thai Delight Bougainvillea Vine, scientifically known as Bougainvillea × buttiana ‘Thai Delight’, is a vibrant tropical flowering vine known for its multicolored blooms in shades of pink, cream, and soft peach. This fast-growing bougainvillea produces abundant color throughout the warmer months and adds a bold tropical look to fences, trellises, patios, and arbors. With its vigorous growth, drought tolerance, and long bloom season, Thai Delight Bougainvillea is a stunning choice for warm-climate landscapes.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Fast growth rate. Thai Delight Bougainvillea Vine typically grows 3–5+ feet per year and can reach approximately 10–20 feet tall and 6–10 feet wide at maturity depending on support structure and pruning.

WATERING & SUNLIGHT

Water deeply and allow the soil to dry slightly between watering. During establishment, water approximately once or twice per week, then reduce frequency once established. Bougainvillea prefers slightly drier conditions once mature, and watering frequency will vary depending on climate, rainfall, sunlight exposure, and container vs. in-ground planting.

Thai Delight Bougainvillea grows best in full sun, which is essential for strong flowering and vibrant color.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Prune as needed throughout the growing season to control size and encourage branching. Bougainvillea blooms on new growth, so regular trimming can help encourage additional flowering.

FERTILIZING:
Apply a balanced or bloom-boosting fertilizer during the growing season to support healthy flowering. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which may encourage foliage growth over blooms. Avoid fertilizing for the first 2–3 months after delivery to allow the plant to adjust and establish.

WINTER PROTECTION:
Thai Delight Bougainvillea is sensitive to frost and should be protected from temperatures below 32°F. In cooler climates, container-grown plants should be brought indoors or protected during freezes.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Choose a planting location with full sun and very well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and about the same depth as the container. Place the plant in the hole, backfill gently, and water thoroughly after planting. If growing as a climbing vine, provide a trellis, arbor, or other support structure.

USDA GROW ZONE:

Zones 9-11

Thai Delight Bougainvillea grows best in USDA Zones 9–11 and thrives in warm, sunny climates with mild winters. It performs especially well in tropical, subtropical, and coastal regions. In cooler climates, it is commonly grown in containers and overwintered indoors or protected during freezes.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
