Planting instructions
Choose a location in full sun to partial shade with well-draining soil. Dig a hole two to three times wider than the root ball and about the same depth as the nursery container. Place the tree, backfill with native soil, and gently firm to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting and apply 2–3 inches of mulch, keeping it a few inches from the trunk. For a narrow screen, space trees about 5–6 feet apart.
Watering & sunlight
Watering needs are never one-size-fits-all. Weather, soil type, drainage, plant size, and planting time all affect how quickly a plant dries out.

Use a slow-running hose, soaker hose, or drip system to water the root ball and surrounding root zone thoroughly. Allow the water to penetrate deeply (not just wet the top few inches of soil), and avoid frequent, shallow watering.

Before watering again, check the soil 3–4 inches deep near the root ball. If it feels dry, repeat this deep-watering process. If it feels moist or soggy, wait and check again in 1–2 days. Check the soil of newly planted trees and shrubs several times per week, especially during hot, dry, or windy weather.

Irrigation run times will vary based on flow rate, soil, and system setup.

Care guide

PRUNING:
Generally keeps its narrow shape without pruning. If desired, light trimming can be done in spring as new growth expands.

FERTILIZING:
Usually unnecessary. If needed, apply a slow-release fertilizer for evergreens in early spring. Avoid fertilizing for the first 2–3 months after delivery to allow the plant to adjust and establish.

WINTER PROTECTION:
Extremely cold hardy and typically needs no special winter protection in the ground. Water deeply in fall before the ground freezes to help prevent winter burn.

How fast does Montrose Charm White Spruce grow?
Montrose Charm White Spruce has a moderate growth rate, steadily filling in its dense, narrow cone shape over time.
Where is the best place to plant Montrose Charm White Spruce?

Is Montrose Charm White Spruce good for small yards?
Yes. At about 15–20 feet tall and only 6–8 feet wide, it adds year-round evergreen structure without taking over the yard, making it a great fit for smaller properties.

Plant it at least 5 feet from your home and other structures. This gives the branches room to reach their full 6–8 foot width and allows good air circulation around the tree.
Can Montrose Charm White Spruce be used as a living Christmas tree?
Yes. Its tidy, conical shape and soft, full blue-green needles make it a charming living Christmas tree in the landscape.
Does Montrose Charm White Spruce grow well in hot climates?
