The tree's striking flowers create a captivating focal point in the landscape, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden. The Dynamite Crape Myrtle is a low-maintenance tree that rewards gardeners with its exceptional beauty and resilience.

GROWTH RATE & MATURE SIZE:

Moderate to fast growth rate; growing about 2 to 3 feet per year. Reaches 15 to 25 feet tall and 10-15 feet wide at maturity.

WATERING & SUNLIGHT

The Dynamite Crape Myrtle thrives in full sun exposure, requiring at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight per day to ensure abundant flowering. Once established, the tree is moderately drought-tolerant but will benefit from regular watering during prolonged dry spells. Water when the top few inches of soil feel dry to the touch.

PLANT CARE & PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

PRUNING:
Prune Dynamite Crape Myrtle in late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and maintain a compact shape. Minimal pruning is typically needed.

FERTILIZING:
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer for flowering trees in early spring, following package instructions and spreading evenly around the drip line. Avoid over-fertilizing to prevent excessive foliage at the expense of blooms.

WINTER PROTECTION:
In zones 7–10, mulch around the base to insulate roots. During severe winter weather, consider covering with burlap or a frost cloth for added protection.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

When planting the Dynamite Crape Myrtle Tree (Lagerstroemia indica 'Dynamite'), select a planting location that receives full sun exposure for optimum flowering. The soil should be well-draining and fertile. Dig a hole that is twice as wide and slightly shallower than the root ball. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring that the top of the root ball is level with or slightly above the surrounding soil. Backfill the hole with soil, gently firming it around the roots. Water thoroughly after planting and apply a layer of mulch around the base of the tree to conserve moisture and suppress weed growth.

USDA GROW ZONE:

Zones 7-9

The Dynamite Crape Myrtle Tree (Lagerstroemia indica 'Dynamite') is recommended for USDA hardiness zones 7-9. It exhibits excellent hardiness and can withstand a wide range of temperatures and climatic conditions within its suitable range.

All California orders require a mandatory inspection by the Texas Department of Agriculture (yep, it’s a USDA thing!). These inspections happen about once a week—typically on Tuesdays, though the day can vary. If you place an order just after an inspection, your plant may not ship for several days until the next one. Unfortunately, we’re not able to expedite this part of the process.

Also, due to USDA regulations, we’re unable to ship oak trees, citrus or fruit trees (except olive trees) to California. This rule helps prevent the spread of pests and diseases and applies to nurseries across the country.

Thanks for your patience—we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.
