How to use

  1. Identify the pest:
    Look closely (especially under leaves) to confirm you’re dealing with soft-bodied pests like aphids, whiteflies, spider mites, mealybugs, or scale crawlers. Neem works best when it can directly contact the insect.
  2. Pick the right time:
    Spray in early morning or evening, not midday. Avoid spraying in hot sun or when temps are above ~85°F, and don’t spray right before rain.
  3. Shake it like crazy:
    Neem oil separates easily. Shake the bottle hard before you spray, and shake again every couple minutes while using it.
  4. Spot-test first:
    Spray a few leaves (including undersides) and wait 24 hours. If you see leaf spotting, curling, or burn, don’t treat the whole plant.
  5. Prep the plant:
    If pests are heavy, rinse the plant first with a gentle stream of water to knock bugs off. For mealybugs/scale, wipe what you can with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol before spraying.
  6. Spray thoroughly:
    Spray evenly over the entire plant: tops of leaves, undersides of leaves (most important), stems, and branch joints. Coat until damp, not dripping.
  7. Keep it out of direct light while it dries:
    Let the plant dry in shade/indirect light for a few hours to reduce the risk of leaf burn.
  8. Repeat on a schedule:
    Reapply every 7–14 days as needed. For active infestations, use every 7 days for 2–3 rounds, then space out.
  9. Treat the environment too:
    Indoor plants: check nearby plants and treat them too if you see pests.
    Outdoor plants: check surrounding plants and weeds that can reintroduce pests.
  10. Know when to stop or switch:
    If you’re not seeing improvement after 2–3 treatments, you may be dealing with the wrong pest, eggs re-hatching faster than your schedule, or a severe infestation that needs pruning, stronger mechanical removal, or a different organic option (like insecticidal soap).

Note: Avoid spraying stressed plants (very dry, heat-stressed, newly transplanted) and avoid spraying open flowers if you can, since neem can bother beneficial insects when sprayed directly.
